Flies on West Coast

We are going to Shark Bay at the end of this week. Can anyone tell me if the flies have been blown away by cyclone quang or are they still there? Thanks in advance, Whowalks

Don't forget your fly nets because you are going to need them. The cyclone had no effect on the weather south of Coral Bay and the flies have developed a serious taste for any spray you put on, nets are the only thing that works

seem to be disappearing

Cooler weather over the last few days has seen numbers in Kalbarri drop significantly, not an issue any more. I think you see things back to normal within a week, warm weather cycle has broken, at least down here.

F%$#@ng Flies

They are in PLAGUE proportions at Steep point. Got back on Thursday & if it wasn;t for the fly nets , we would have been home 4 days earlier.
Yep definitely take Flynets & extras if you can. We got offered $50 each for ours Haha....
Also Bushman's for the March flies & believe it or not. Aeroguard for the mozzies at night.
Hope it's a good trip for you & be safe & enjoy.
cheers Rob

The little black buggers are still here in force, Fly nets are about the only thing that gives you any protection from them. All the repellents are useless, even the expensive ones.

Fly nets

That was our only saviour at dirk hartog island for last 2 weeks , came back Saturday arvo and they are past plague proportions ! No spray in the world was keeping them off us , and the bloody March flies were biting through our pants /socks...driving down highway on way back all road workers were still covered in them so they aren't going anywhere in a hurry ! If it wasn't for perfect weather we snagged and great fishing then would have been trip from hell.when you drink through your net and forget it's on your head when you go to eat, it's bad....

thank you for all the replies. They have all helped, we have decided to drive to Carrarang and see. The flies do seem to be abating as the replies above have indicated. Once again thank you everybody. Regards Steve W

i spoke to Pam at steep point this morning.  The cooler temps (19°!) have reduced the number of flies but nets are still necessary
