Hi all
About to get a new car for everyday use and boat towing ( upto 2.5tonne ) and want a wagon type vehicle ( not Ute )
Thinking of getting near new Ford Everest.
Would be great if anyone could provide any feedback on this car - any problems , how it goes towing etc
Cheers

i brought a new Everest Ambiente in 2015, 3.2lt & 6speed, one of the first ones out of Titan Ford.
It had its problems, as a lot of the early models did, with Limp mode when towing in hot weather ( due a lot to Transmission temps & aftermarket bull bars ) so i am told. After 1 too many times hitting this Limp Mode in bad situations on the road, i invested in an aftermarket Trans Cooler & also had the engine PCU remapped along with transmission remapped as well, which solved all my troubles & resulted in very good gains in power & torque, i am towing a 2.5tonne boat.
About 3 months ago i purchased another new 2019.75 Everest, again the base model Ambiente with the 3.2lt & 6 speed, which has had significant upgrades since the first model. Car is brilliant to drive, although i have just had a new Trans cooler fitted again, as the trans temp was hitting nearly 100deg while driving around town with ambient temps of around 29 degs, without towing anything or driving hard.
I think the Everest is probably the nicest car to drive out of any of the other ute based models, 100%.
the Everst Trend & Titanium can be purchased with the 2lt Twin Turbo diesel engine with a 10 speed gearbox, but it's not for me. There are a few questions being asked about this 10 speed gearbox.
I suggest you go on facebook & join the Ford Everest Club Australia, where there is now 4 years of pros & cons about the car & the 3.2lt engine & now about 1 years worth of pros & cons about the new 2lt, twin turbo with 10speed box.
Personally, i love the base model Everest, without all the fancy tech & think the 3.2lt & 6 speed box is tried & tested now for many many years.
Good luck with your choise, i am sure you will be happy

Work is replacing our fleet of Hiluxes. I've put my hand up for an MUX as I don't want a ute.

trans overheating
I have always had dual cab diesel Manual utes but like the idea of a auto around town
Do all the Auto trans overheat or is it just a Ford thing, Can't understand how they can sell a vehicle for towing when you have to modify it to do the job

It’s the 6 speed ZF transmission, have the same in my XR8. Almost bullet proof.

considered a Fortuner?
I dont know the price differences, but the Toyota Fortuner's are basically a hilux chasis with a wagon top. i was considering one for the misso, that could double as a tow vehicle if I needed it.
for the record, an aftermarket transmission oil cooler is a very easy thing to buy and install yourself. I have completed 2 of these. Supercheap auto had a good brand semi-commercial one for approx $400. they are piss easy to install, and take about 20 minutes. the hardest part is figuring out which is the oil feed into your transmission.

My neighbour back home was a executive for Ford when they were here, he has one and reckons stay with the 3.2. He's not sold on the twin turbo 2 litre.
