Didn't see the show, but we definitely get Western Fortescue over here. It's called Centropogon latifrons. But it is just another scorpionfish, and there are many other species that will give you just as much of a whack, if not more

Fresh water
The one they were talking about was fresh water? The only fresh water fish I've run that can give you a bad sting is the cobbler/ catfish family

Yeah mate, sorry - as I said - didn't see the show. Yep, you are right - the only freshwater scorpionfish in Australia is over east - yay for us!
