Skops

Mon, 2008-09-08 18:53

When I was in the Navy the medics used to dish out these things called Skops.  They are a little round band aid that you stick behind your ear and they have some sort of drug in them that is slowly absorbed into your skin.  I have seen fellas with cronic sea sickness use them and they worked a treat.  You have to put them on a few hours before you go so they have time to work.

A bloke named Northy used to get sick as soon as the ropes were off the wharf.  When at sea he would get around with a garbage bag in his back pocket permanently because he was so sick.  After taking these he was cured.

I think they are prescription but that isn't a problem just ask your doctor.  If it works use it.

suffered some pretty ordinary side effects so they where withdrawn from the market. Other than that I cant shed more light on why.

They would have to contain scopolamine with a name like that. You can read about it's effects here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopolamine

Antihistamines work well - i pinch the wife's hay fever tablets if i run out of Kwells. I try and avoid Kwells after taking two last year before going out on the charter from Port Geographe - the skipper piked out and left us standing on the jetty at 6am - try playing golf with 2 Kwells under your belt.

Done that Ian

Did that ONCE - took two kwells and when we got down to Albany, the conditions were terrible - so went home. Worst thing to do - feel very average all day. Goodness knows how you could have played golf.
