Found some fish second trip
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2022-04-03 18:42
Headed out at around 8:30 as the tide was quite low and couldn't launch earlier. Went out to similar area as 1st trip with no luck so we went exploring and found an area with a decent lump showing fish.
1st drift I got a legal black snapper and Sandy out did me with a double of black snapper and Spanish flag on the same set of snelled hooks. A few more drifts around the same are produced some more black snapper and a couple more Spanish flag. Sandy got a reasonable black snapper and I got a nice cod to finish it off. Wind came in so we called it a day . Happy to get out there and get a few fish for the fryer

Good job
Mate you got a good mark and you still need to knock off a few more sharks

Nice going Russ. Good mixed
Nice going Russ. Good mixed bag. Not sure about Hedland but around Exmouth and Onslow a Spanish flag livie often turned into a decent mackie.

Cheers for the info. Might have to try that one . I think any livies out the back of the boat could turn into a Mackie or a shark

Generally Russ. Have also
Generally Russ. Have also used glitter floats as they're kinder to the environment. May not be big enough to keep the livie up though. Use single strand wire and something like Gamakatsu Live Bait or Mustad Hoodlum hooks. I'm sure there are a stack of others that would be fine too. In really clear water we found we needed to use a smaller stinger hook just in front of the tail behind the anal fin as we were getting bitten off behind the head. Mackies have pretty good eyesight!
