Framing Nails Help

Hoping someone can help me. I am building a deck using 45x90 joists and have a whole bunch of joist hangers and dad's framing gun. I went to Bunnings to get some nails to fasten the joist hangers and I can only find 50 x 2.87mm nails which are too long for the 45mm joist.

Does anyone know where to get some correct size nails as the fella at Bunnings was not much help beyond reading the boxes of nails.

Cheers JF

Don't use a framing gun use a coil nail gun or just use 25mm hex head wood screws to fix your joist straps. Standard gun nails will bend as you try to go through the hanger... dangerous shit with nails going anywhere. Coil nails are hardened and won't bend.

Hey mate.Framing gun no good for nailing joist hangers.

Proper way to meet code requires a special gun to shot framing bracket nail into the holes of the framing bracket or to hand nail with pryda nails or pryda make a screw you can install with a drill/impact

Most guys use a coil gun with a 32mm hardened twist nail to shoot through the metal joist hanger but technically it doesnt meet the joist hanger specs but most do it this way

Screws probably your easiest way out if you dont have the right nail gun.

Bunnings sell them just google pryda timber connector screw.

Pro tip-Its easier if you get the apprentice to do it like i do

Legends. I have a big box of Pryda 12G 35mm screws so I shall persevere with the impact driver.

Bloody Bunnings had a video of a bloke using a framing gun and was hoping that'd be quicker...
