freo all night
made my way down to the e shed last night with james and nicson
started fishing at 7ish with only 2 or 3 herring to show for it
moved to a different spot which looked promising for some squid and had a nice drop off to launch our livies and big baits
we managed to get a nice bag of squid and used 8 or so for bait and had a couple to take home aswell
had a good run at midnight which james called to be a mulla but resulted in a bust off, which is my fault for trying to skull drag him....he was running and i didnt have enough line to compensate
10 mins later my rod goes off again but we knew this wasnt a mulla as the fight was typical of a shark and 45 mins later up comes a 2 metre bronzie
james had a go at lip gripping it haha! didnt go so well so we tailed him up as he was too buggered to fight back
chucked him back and after that i decided to go have a kip and james continued squidding and managed to bag out
off to have a sleep now to recoop
then i shall wake up and cook my cephlapods

We tried for photos but you know what gay camera phones are like, the largest squid was about 30cm mantle and the smallest i got was about 5cm lol
Thanks Thipthorp for the tiny jig it caught most squid for the night, and one cuttlefish.
I recommend the yamashita 0.8 tiny jigs they are very good and cost me less than 20$ at oceanside and caught me more than 20 squid.
Im spewing that reuben lost what i called for a mulloway, we were both really excited for him and lost it but the shark certainly made up for it.
and reubens right, lip grips dont work on 2m sharks haha.

You should have kept the bronzie,IMO a lot better eating than the mulloway and you get a better meat % than off the shark 60% than the mulla 35%,dhuies only return 28=30% because of their big head

Here's a rule of thumb
for sharks, just remember 1.2m. Anything bigger chuck back in. Larger then 1.2m isnt good for eating because of the high mercury content, anything upto 1.2m is definately plate worthy.
Oh and you can thank honsu for the squid i left u guys. I think i forgot the bucket, gotta grab it of u's and hand back to honsu.
Good to see u guys had a positive night, makes the stay worthwhile, as allnighters havent done you all justice lately. Im guessin another night will be organised shortly knowing u boys lol.
I think its bout time ya'll have an allnighter with a tent at somewhere with some better fish and waters. Like tent up at dawesville, hit up the moles or mindarie marina.
As usual, i'll be there. Maybe if u guys wanna chuck in for fuel and trailer, i might drive u guys and all the gear next time since i bought the hilux. Trailer hire is like 30 bucks for 24hr. All chip in would cost sweet fk all. Unless u want something secure, like 80 bucks for enclosed furniture trailer. You guys can lugg everything and go all night somewhere better, maybe two rocks or something.

My mrs will be there too, so, you guys sort out who's going and when. It's upto you guys how many are coming, i prefer 3, but, i dont wanna leave anyone out. I distinctly remember on
I distinctly remember on swanfish the 3 boys cuddled up in the car nice and warm and i slept on wet grass.
Cleaned up on the squid last night.
Last nights catch
6 squid
12 Herring
2 cuttlefish
1 Bird (took a herring from who knows how deep)
Hooked up to the mother of all octos i actually thought i snagged the jig and i was spewing as i borrowed it off some others who were there, kept changing my angle and trying to get unstuck then the rock slowly took drag. Was thinking, gosh thats odd maybe im just caught on some weed and its the swell. It kept taking more and more line and i tightened drag and then the fight was on , for the next 10 minutes me and this octopus had it out.
Result =His tentacle came off, i got the jig back.. all good :)

I forgot to mention.. I drive a Ford courier .. you might not
need to rent the trailer.. got space for stuff in the canopy.. unless you blokes have a 9 and above foot rod in 1 piece..
