Freo traffic bridge

Went down freo traffic bridge last night with ziggy, scano and exmouthfisher and the snapper were biting hard!!! I caught 4 . All released well. Also caught yellow tail, butter fish, port jackson sharks etc.

I had a half yellow tail out that got smoked twice and snapped me off. Not sure what it was :(...

Here are a couple pics....

Few more years

Few more years and look out.  The current under that bridge is amazing at times, something you'd see up north.

The current is fast and it

The current is fast and it is tricky to move around there at times.  Make sure if you plan to go there you do what I did and the first time just go for a look, not to fish.  Get a bit familiar with the place first.

I can remember over the 15

Tue, 2009-02-24 07:56

I can remember over the 15 years i fished there 4 deaths in total now. Im sure there have been more we dont know about aswell.

The current rushes through there at a fast speed and i have heard that the current that swerls around the pylons can suck you under or make it hard to stay afloat.

Can be very tricky getting down from the walkway onto the narrow beams then walking the beams you have to dodge bottles left there and u bolts etc. The wood can also become slippery.

I have only fallen once and just about went in.

I bought the pfd co2 vest mainly for my rockfishin downsouth but seeing as though i have it sittion there at home i might aswell wear it down there.

Wise move

i don't care if it only saves you once - rockfishing down along the south coast and places like Quobba it's a must if you don't want to risk becoming another statistic.
