Awesome weather Friday - If anyone is going out and needs a deckie, give me a buzz - happily split all bills etc :)

went out yesterday
was out on the ski yesterday, 8 knots wasn't even close, found some big boys but the plastic and jigs were working, so I caught a feed of herring and whitting. My restriction to 5 nm could of been a factor. Can't understand how a kayak is allowed further out than a Jetski.

faith I have!!
reality is that's its been onshore for over a week, has been dropping since my previous post and will start to clean up this arvo.
for me it may be a slightly slower trip out, I don't mind air time but the OLD deckie feels the bumps.
no need to head out at sparrows fart, should get better during the day.

Been fantastic
fishing weather here since last Monday to today Friday 2/8/13. The ocean today looked like a mill pond, excellent fishing all week here in Leeman, average 4boats out each day. Too cold in the mornings for us hahahah must be getting old.
Hope you either got out and got your PB's or over the weekend. Big high coming in so might be ok for the weekend.

at the ramp this morning
I watched a fella who had retrieved his boat get out of the car at the top of the ramp and must of forgotten to put the handbrake on!! he got back in just in time to accidentally honk the horn lots(so everyone watched) and just stop from loosing the car.
he then drove off quickly...

today
went out wide didn't do that well I got a dhuie , offsider got a nice reefy that got turned it to fillets and he got a thumper black arse , I think the dhuie I got was a double hook up as I struggled for 10 minutes to move it of the bottom (thought I was snagged at one stage but catchalittle(Nathan) said nah hang on to it that's not the bottom that's a fish)any way finally got it moving and about half way up I lost most of the weight but still had a nice Dhuie attached when the when the tackle hit the surface. The weather was perfect coming home over 40ks an hour all the way and could have gone faster but just enjoyed the trip home, good company, a feed of fish and great weather does it get any better??

Was pretty lumpy out off
Was pretty lumpy out off Ocean reef until lunchtime, when it improved a lot. Both deckies ended up spewing....hopeless!
We hit up the shallow sambo spot first up to test out the new 2013 Stellas...there were thousands of them spread over a 400 m radius. Lots of triple headers and we could see the sambos and amberjack schooling under the boat. Dropped a jig 5 m down, twitch twitch and watched two hookups. Soft plastics, jigs of all types, it did not matter.
Then out wider we got a couple of sized dhu, a nice pinkie and baldie on jig, but was reasonably hard work and tried heaps of different spots. Blown away by a few unstoppables on jig which was disappointing.
Great run home.
Nice to meet you at the ramp Tot. We used a LOT more fuel than you.......

Dunno if it was sexual.
My mind decided that the rolling swell this morning wasn't too flash and that it would be best if I burleyed up the water for a decent portion of the day.
Despite the greeness managed to get a nice Baldy, small Dhuey that went 550mm, and a Bonito on a bottom bashing rig. I seem to be Sargent Baker magnet too or theres shedloads of them around.
Skipper caught a decent Baldy too, a Dhuey 600mm-ish, a KG, and a cuttlefish. He threw back a couple of Red Throat emperors(bit far from home??) and a Sweep.
He got onto some Norwest blowie action too. Fortunately I missed out on this as I had decided to retire to a horizontal position for a while.
Seems to be a few Whales around at the mo. Spotted 6 today.

We left Hillarys
We left Hillarys and went I dunno 18+ miles out and it was swelly and not that clean. The drive out was the killer. I didn't feel as bad when stationary. After a fish we headed another 7+ miles out and I was definitely not too flash after that.
It ended up beautiful but I was damaged goods by then.
The ride in was great, though I will admit hitting Terra Firma was a bit of relief. I've never been as sick as I was today though. Unfortunately due to the love of fishing I'm going to have to persevere.

Got my PB for snapper today
Went out past Carnac today and did a bit of a recon on some old ground that I last went to during the summer months. Never really caught anything there before except some Black Arse. Today the conditions were great but the fish werent biting much though there was plenty of schools of what looked like a good size on the sounder.
Ended up with a nice 62cm KG and an 83cm Snapper. I had just got the snapper alongside, couldn't get it in the net so was reaching for the gaff when my other rod went off. Bugger, what to do! The snapper I had alongside wasn't going anywhere so started reeling in on the other rod. Another monster snapper surfaced without much effort but as I reeled it in towards the boat the damned hook snapped. A few expletives flew but thats life, fishing life.
Lost another rig to something fairly heavy, don't think it was a ray and it certainly didn't react like a sambo but the 30kg braid snapped.

Friday was great
Spent most of Thursday installing my new under-gunnel Korr led lighting - it is brilliant and headed out at sparrows on Friday almost mowing someone down in the sound with absolutely NO lighting whatever. Cray pots were everywhere in the 30-40's making it tough going - must now consider a flood light bar as it was a bloody obstacle course
All my usual ground appeared devoid of fish so headed off about a mile further south and came across some activity, two drops and bagged out with a great eating size 60+ dhuie and an absolute horse of a blackarse, moved inshore and skinned some occy chasing some whiting to finish off the bag, dropped a beauty boatside and then got a second 64cm female ( on cleaning regretfully it was full of roe) and headed in - fishing the whiting area got several more blackarse all successfully released witha weight and a couple of small dhuies again the weight worked great
Back at Cockburn by 11 and the whole of the morning did not need to use a sea anchor but was drifting at a perfect speed - couldn't have asked for better
