Fuel Set Up
Submitted by davidbland50 on Fri, 2011-10-07 08:01
Just hoping someone out there can help me, I am finally rigging up the Johnson 150 VRO Silver Star 1993 on the boat and did not plot down how the oil and fuel lines go on. Which line goes to the VRO pump and which goes to the strainer in the middle of the front, fuel or oil?
Also can someone tell me what the red lever is for in the centre of the engine behind the front cover?

i might be able to help
sound's like the red lever is for the reserve oil (when engine oil resivoir gets low buzzer goes off and engine missfires) push that lever and provides enough oil to get you home hope this helps but without pic's im unsure?

you can see the red lever in
you can see the red lever in the centre of the picture, and the fuel line going to the white elbow fitting and the other hose going to the VRO pump.

The red lever is the choke
The red lever is the choke overide if you lose power to the choke twist the lever left or right and it activated the choke
you can check it by priming the fuel system up and when you twist it you will here the fuel releasing from the valve
Your fuel line goes the the stainer (fuel filter) and the oil line goes the VRO

Thanks
Thanks Drew74,
That vacuum line sitting up in the top left corner. Does it go into anything or does it sit in the airbox?

It is a recirculation line it
It is a recirculation line it just sits in the top of the air box and there should be one down the bottom of the air box

If the red lever is actuated
If the red lever is actuated and the choke is on, then no 1 the engine would run rough and the vro system would overoil, would it not?

Yer motor mate the motor will
Yer motor mate the motor will rough for sure, more chance it will over fuel rather than oil.
If the motor is overoiling while it is running you will more than likely have a air leak in the fuel line from the tank to the motor (vacum side_
best thing to do there is check all the fuel fittings

To all those that assisted me
To all those that assisted me with this problem, thankyou very much. The engine now runs quite smoothly, smokes a bit but what do you expect from a 2 stroke.
