Furuno 585 delaminating

My 585 is slowly delaminating. I took it to Taylor's on Henderson who tell me that it needs repair or replace but will cost $1900 just to repair. My understanding is that it would be cheaper to replace the whole unit and put in a 587.

Anyone know of a place that can do a good but cheaper repair job before I bite the bullet for a new unit?

Failing that where can I get a 587 as Taylor's are saying $2200 for the unit without the transducer. Though they did say try All Boats as they sell them cheaper but then how much cheaper?

Cheers

I wouldnt be buying from overseas. Not much if anything at all in it for price and local support to go with it.

587 can be bought for around $1800 in Oz atm.

All boats or some of the others should have a good boat show price going as well you could try.

No real issues

Its still working fine but for piece of mind I changed it out last week for a 587 because I could. If anyone is looking for a 585 it can be had for a very reasonable price.

Is the screen delaminating or is it the UV top layer coating coming off?

Delaminating

The UV film is coming off mine as well.

7 yrs old . Still works fine

I used to use glass wipes to clean it and have found out since that some of these are no good for Polarised films, such as Sunglasses and I assume 585's

Windex

windex, micro fibre cloth and a little elbow grease will remove the uv coating completely, might started to peel so I removed it completely. Looks better without it

Sorry

Can't do that as it has now been sold with the new owner fully aware of the condition.

From the top left hand corner going across as well as down appeared a line which at first I thought was moisture but when I took it in to be serviced I was told that the screen was delaminating.
