Hey guys,
got a furuno 587 and it has been a pain to turn on lately / sometimes dosent power up without removing and reinserting power cord. Have noticed a bit of corrosion on the head unit terminals, have sprayed them with contact cleaner but it still continues to be a problem. Anyone had this issue with sounders before? I was thinking maybe getting a small wire brush to scrub them but it's arkward to get in there.

If in doubt take it to
If in doubt take it to Fremantle Marine Electronics. They are a repair agent for Furuno. They were great in helping me work through issues with mine.

Once repaird and working use electrogaurd grease in all connections and fittings like these.I do a lot of work with electronic controlled hydraulics and can bus and use the stuff everywhere, keeps moisture ect out without any interference

Thanks for the replies guys,
Thanks for the replies guys, I used some contact cleaner and a harsh tooth brush. Seems to be working now but one of the pins definatley looks worse than the rest.
