Guys
Found plenty of useful threads on FW and finally im upgrading to TM260 1 Kw for my Furuno 587....Can anyone help out from a settings POV? Once selecting the transducer type in the settings menu...do any users recommend actually changing any of the other settings? over the years ive spent plenty of time fine tuning for the 600w- anyone recommend what settings they are using ? I use mainly for bottom fishing in 70-100m- using the shift function on only the bottom 10metres. any help would be appreciated

I use a 585 with 1kW and have basically found if it is under 100m, i just leave it in Auto.
Its a bit lazy, but it reads well.
Over 100m ish, i drop back to manual.

Agree with above. If your transducer location is good, auto will be better than a lazy person will do in manual. EVERYONE is lazy!
Below 150m, go manual, TVG high and drop the gain.
Transducer location/installation WAY WAY more important than settings under 100m.

luckily I have a Westerberg so transducer is well away from the wash and great positioning. My 600w reads beautifully, even at high speeds. its just when we head out 150-200m plus, I like to be sounding fish, not just the bottom. appreciate the feedback
