Gamex & AIBT Info ?
Is it just me ,or has there been very few reports on either of these tournaments. The Exmouth Gamefishing Website has had no results posted from the the AIBT and no info on what is happening in Gamex . If it wasn't for a couple of threads on Fishwrecked and piss-poor mention about the AIBT in last Sunday Times you wouldn't even know the events were on. Like a lot of others , I'm heading up there in a week or so and I was looking forward to reading all about the action of these tournaments or at least seeing a pic of the leader board.
Could someone post the links if there are any results or updates anywhere on the web .
For a state and national tournament that had a lot of coverage in the leadup to the events , I think the follow up with results has been a bit slack. Would have thought EGFC would at least have updates on there website.

Agree
Agree. For a so called national event ( AIBT )and for exmouths premier game fishing tournament (Gamex) you would have thought they would be doing all they can to promote and advertise the place. If I was a sponsor I would be a little disappointed in the coverage. As you said if it wasn't for Captain Bernie and deepwater you wouldn't know it was on.

The silence on both these major events has been deafening.

Hey guys for what its worth
Hey guys for what its worth I think that anyone involved in the competitions and the club would be feeling a little rooted by this stage of the game. Either organising these comps or fishing them is a big effort and for those here enjoying themselves fishing, drinking and telling tales about the one that got away its likely they just plain havent had time to scratch themselves let alone post on here or the club site. Plus they've had record numbers for Gamex this year so I don't think the place is short of promotion and advertising!!
Be patient, I'm sure they'll get around to it or fish the comps next year!!

I appreciate the time and
I appreciate the time and effort that goes into organising such events , been there done that . I also know it only takes a short time to post a pic or upload results to a web site. Would have thought it was all part of the planning when they were calling for helpers to peel prawns etc. Promotion and advertising to those involved in the event is preaching to the converted AIBT is a national event and not everyone can get to Exmouth to look at the results board . Gamex is a great event and I have been involved in the past but not everyone can get there every year .

Yes, agree BIGMAGSKIP,
Yes, agree BIGMAGSKIP, everyone has been extremely busy, everyone and anyone who was available to assist in a voluntary capacity, did so, and the EGFC members have worked their butts of to make both events two of the most successful fishing comps ever. With 65 boats in the AIBT and 84 in GAMEX, over 400 billfish raised and 222 tagged and released, although not as many as last year, it was still an exciting tournament. The majority of marlin tagged were BIG blues compared to last year with large numbers of small blacks. Team "Aqua" took of the AIBT Top Billfish Tag and Release, with 6 tags beating Mahi Mahi with 7 tags but won on line class. Team "C-Worthy" took of the GAMEX top Tag and Release with 11, second was "Macko" with 8 tags defeating Mahi Mahi on line class who tagged 9. A tremendous time was had by everyone including a number of teams from Eastern States. Both tournaments will again be held in Exmouth in March 2012 and no doubt from the feedback will be bigger and better. The EGFC and the community of Exmouth should be very proud of themselves for putting on a World Class event, which was as a result of the thousands of dollars spent on advertising. The enormous amount of sponsorship received from businesses state wide should also be mentioned. Congratulations and well done to everyone! !

Just would have thought that
Just would have thought that a club that has been given the opportunity to host an event like the AIBT, that has always been held on the east coast, it would have been a given to keep anglers around the country up to date on their website. Very Amateurish. Thanks Adam for the Update on Gamex.

there was a 96kg black and a
there was a 96kg black and a 49kg yellowfin tuna weighed in last night, and a 249.9kg blue weighed in tonight.
Daily updates would be nice but everyone down there is working pretty hard at the moment. It would be nice if they could get the results up on the net each night but that needs another volunteer, and everyone knows volunteers are hard to come by sometimes.
As for AIBT, Aqua (local boat) won by one fish over Mahi Mahi II, champion angler was on In Deep, Jeffo on Deepwater was runner up sailfish to Cat Weasel. That's about it from what I remember. Maybe someone on here can volunteer to be the daily update person for next year?

Thanks Tim
Thanks Tim . Its nice to get some news on whats been going on . Volunteers are hard to come by and usually don't get the thanks they deserve, but it is frustrating when you want to follow an event ( wishing I were there ) and cant get much info.

Did hear a junior angler(7)
Did hear a junior angler(7) managed to take out a State, National and World record. Good work. Sounds like some great fish.
As a few of the others have said, it takes alot of work to organise and run a successful fishing comp (organisers usually want to fish too) and 2 week long comps back to back I cant imagine. Im sure the reports will be up shortly.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Mrs Deepwater
I just want to add it would be great to have daily updates on the sites but everyone is working there guts out. i see the president and some committee members working day and night from early int he morning to not leaving the club until around 10 a night. It would be great to have an extra volunteers to do reports daily but when you find him/her please please send them our way!!
I think doing the reports daily would be a fantastic idea too.. may be brought up in de brief maybe.???
Mrs deepwater ( EGFC committee member who would like a sleep in..) hehehe

Well we came in third with 7
Well we came in third with 7 tags, in the tag and release section, to C.Worthy with 11 tags and Macko with 6, lost by line class, but what a time we all had. The President and members of the Exmouth Game Fishing Club certainly put on a show to remember, cant wait till next year. Congratulations everyone, well done! Have a team already booked for GAMEX 2012! One more trip next week to the Montebello Islands, then back to Coral Bay for the season, looks like it is going to be a busy one.
