Giralia Station
Submitted by mullows on Wed, 2018-05-09 06:49
Hi all,
Taking a week off LSL and trying to decide where to go and what to do. Taking a small tinny with us as well as the 2 kids and 2 dogs.
Have been to Ningaloo before and enjoyed it, figured Waroorra be much the same. Whats the beach/creek camping like at Giralia? Any dramas launching there? Any other info or thoughts will be appreciated.
Travelling down from Karratha.
Search function doesnt seem to be working hence the question.
Cheers

I camped at Giralia station
I camped at Giralia station last year for 3 nights. We camped on the beach however would have preferred the camp site next to the creek. You can launch a tinny there without any dramas and I may have a photo of it if you are interested.

Hi Sea-kem, I caught bugger
Hi Sea-kem, I caught bugger all actually but I didn't have a tinnie with me. I think with a tinnie would have been a different story.

It looks very fishy
It looks very fishy especially with all the creek systems. Was the only time I never had a boat/tinnie - big mistake!

No worries lunching a tinny
No worries lunching a tinny of the beach. Fishing’s good but better in the hotter months. Take plenty of insect spay for the sand flies.

Thanks very much fellas for
Thanks very much fellas for the replies. Looks very good and i am keen to get in there for a look and a bit of a play. Sandflies have just frightened the mrs off though hahahaha.
Is there a camp at the homestead??? and if so how far a drive to launch. Could do that if its an option. The idea of cutting the drive short and not getting battered on the ningaloo road is kind of appealing.
Cheers

You can camp or get a room
You can camp or get a room at the homestead. From memory it`s about a ½ hr drive from the homestead to the beach. The track was like a new highway compared to the Ningaloo track

I was there in July last year
I was there in July last year and the track from Homestead to beach was ordinary. I wouldn't want to travel the track everyday to get to the beach. We didn't notice any sandflies then either. Regardless, if I was you, I would be turning left and heading to Balla Balla.

few years ago
Stayed at the homestead a few years ago and towed our boats down to the creek to launch, no issues with launching although the track was a bit bumpy in some sections from memory.
The fishing was really quiet when we were there, although it looks like it would go alright when the fish are firing. We did get stuck outside the creek on the way back in as we lost track of time and the tide had gone all the way out so keep that in mind.
Never ended up going back as we usually went to Balla Balla or old onslow as we had those spots more figured out.
Im sure if you were in the right spots at the right time the fishing could be pretty good.
