Going a bit crazyyy!
Submitted by Goodz on Sat, 2011-07-30 10:32
Anyone else going a bit crazy being stuck at home in this weather?! Can't get out to work, and can't get out fishing!!! Might be looking at a week straight off work depending on the next few days. Would find it hard picking between work and fishing when the weather clears up though, haha.. been a while since getting on the water!
So what have people been doing to pass the time? I hate to admit it... but I did some sewing......... haha. Made up some elastic spool covers for my reels. Finally can keep that line and leader under control when storing my reels!

I'm hanging out to wet a line
I'm with you Goodz, I'm going crazy with these forecasts of 3m seas, 25kn NW winds and a new boat parked in my carport...let's hope the weather clears up soon.
I've just bought a submersible camera (50m version) from www.dinodirect.com, after reading about the tow cams article, and I've now bought a 10" TV/monitor and DVR that run on 12V, so we can check out the bottom and try to make some sense of what my Furuno is telling me. I've always been interested in what's under the boat and once I've installed this gear in the boat, I'll be able to 'road test' it....i'll post some pics once it's up and running.
Next step is to work out how to post a video on Youtube
I can feel a sickie coming on, as soon as the weather fines up.....and if my fishing buddies are working, I'll go solo!
regards

I thought i was bad
It took me 5 mins to try and get the vac going and when it finally worked i broke it after 10mins so i will not be allowed to do that again.Lucky it is still under warranty .
If you buy stellas they come with the spool keeper.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Haha yeah, didn't mention I broke the needle too! Took me about 20 mins to get the machine threaded! Can't afford to buy the nice shimano spool covers, let alone a Stella! Costed me about $5 for 7 that I made.

im going crazy, ive tried and failed. First i went down to the murray, figured out i need somebody to show me how to catch a bream, then went back down to mandurah yesterday for a try at any herring, skippy or tailor for nought. Used half a tank of fuel in 24hrs. And the worst thing is im on my 5 day break, since Wed, the first day the front hit. Going crazy here! At least ive got wed/thurs to look forward to, Shnapazzzzz

When I say new boat...
I mean the Trailblazer I bought last November....I look at it every day and wish for better weather so I can get my money's worth out of it.
I'll post some pics of the camera setup once I've fitted everything...and some video of 'what's down there'....can't wait to try the camera out.

freshWater Fishing.
Don't let a bit of wet weather dampen your enthusiasm guys because I targeted a few Trout in all that bad weather and was suprised how clear the water was and could see some real beauties but the yabbies were every where and I ended up with a bucket full. Great eating fresh out of the Blackwood upstream from Nannup.

Not afraid of getting wet,
Not afraid of getting wet, but add the strong winds, not ideal for work (putting up colourbond fences). Huge seas and swell also not great for fishing........

Jip - basically cleaning and
Jip - basically cleaning and re doing my current landbased setups.
Just completed shortening the handle of my 15ft FFWD SPRO beach caster - now 14 ft - will give me more versatility / choice of reel to be used - cut off the butt, regripped the butt and epoxied to finish it off.
Just ordered parts for my pet project - the remake and revamp of my "vintage" reels - new powerhandles for both my Penn 500 & Penn 49 + upgraded carbo washer kit for both. Aim to let the 49 do some work this summer hoping for a long strech and burning arms with this reel.
Sinkers - doing some research on custom changes - have made them before - but this time I want to include some steel wire / whipper line and a hook clip. This should keep me busy for a while.
Also waiting on my new parts for the shattered okuma - should arrive wednesday - then fix and test.
Then - thinking of hitting the rocks to try my luck with snapper - Thursday late afternoon into evening looks not too bad - will give it a go.
Every day at the Beach is a Good day!
