Golden Bay Mixed Bag
Submitted by abandon on Wed, 2009-02-11 20:34
Went down to Golden Bay Monday evening, ended up a dead calm, glassy night.
Herring were going nuts on squid pieces, but weren't touching blue sardines or mulie. I fished for herring while my mate Brendan was on the lookout for tailor. The tailor run did come about half an hour after sundown, and he ended up landing 5, all over 32cm.
We were there for about 5 hours, ended up with a decent feed. I have to say it's one of the better nights I've had in a while haha

Yeah it is weird mako,
Yeah it is weird mako, usually squid is my last bait of choice for herring, I usually find that fish baits get smashed when they are on the bite, while often squid sits untouched for ages...
If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Take a girl fishing and she'll want to try it. Teach a girl to fish and you'll get out fished forever!!

Fellas it brings back memories of
Dad, my sister and I getting up sparrow fart on a Sunday morning and heading to Golden Bay. Dad loved fishing (mainly for our siamese cat) beautiful memories before it was all built upwith houses people etc, he used to get some nice fat sand whiting there, can't spell it but can you still fish at Crystaloona beach, its near Golden Bay?

No worries Abandon. Looks
No worries Abandon. Looks like you cleaned up there. Good weather, all day offshores make that stretch of beach very attractive indeed. Get's freaking windy when that seabreeze howls tho
