Golden Retriever Breeders
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sat, 2018-09-08 12:23
Anyone here bought a Goldie recently and can recommend a good accredited breeder? My boy came from Dancing Gate and it looks like old Joy has chucked it in or passed on and been reading some horror stories from her kennel and counting myself lucky and want to background research breeders a bit better.

another thought. try getting
another thought. try getting hold of the guide dogs association, not all the dogs they take pass the tests they go through and from my understanding they are quite often looking for new homes for the dogs that fail.

Contact the W.A canine association
My parents breed Labradors, and show them at the canine association Showgrounds, Royal show etc.
large and good registered breeders are usually registered with them

My old boy was also from
My old boy was also from Dancing Gate and is the best golden retriever we have had.
We have bought a few from over east but are not the same, my wife is a registered breeder but it is litterally impossible nowadays to buy a bitch to breed as purebreds as the breeders refuse to allow you to breed with papers, you are better off going with an unregistered breeder of which there is a few around the state with very good dogs.

She bred a stunning retriever
She bred a stunning retriever didn't she? I read that by the end she was inbreeding her dogs and the pups were developing fatal issues very early.
My childhood dog as well as my wife's two were all Dancing Gate pups and this is my 12y old boy from there.

I've heard they are insanely
I've heard they are insanely intelligent and need to be walked at least twice a day to stop them ruining your house as pups.
^That fecker there had me replacing retic every weekend as a pup which lasted about 2.5 years.

i had a dancing gate pup too!
i had a dancing gate pup too! nd this was when i was in my teens......but yeah she got shut down a few years back i think. beautiful dog.... was great til the big c got him at about 13. luckily we didnt have any of the issues i have heard so much with other dancing gate dogs.
have seen and checked a number of pups from a breeder down near rockingham way whioch always seem great, and the breeder always seems to have informed the owners well...cant remeber the name...southern river maybe?.... dont quote me on that....ringing the retriever association would be a good idea.
just make sure are hip and elbow scored, and get insurance, even if it is just for the first few years....the amount of crucaite disease and developmental issues these days is pretty worrying, seem to also see a stack of allergies and ear issues with retrievers ...all seem to have at least some genetic basis.........if u get insurance early at least u will have all the options available if they end up having any of these disorders. if u find after a few years everything is ok u can always cancel it, but i would always suggest strongly considering insurance....

Exactly the same with my boy,
Exactly the same with my boy, he's been in perfect health besides a bit of arthritis this winter but we discovered last month he has an aggressive melanoma on his jaw. If it wasn’t for pet insurance our hands would have been tied with treatment options but we can give him the best palliative care going forward knowing we only pay 20% of everything…. $7k and counting thus far!
