Good baldie
Submitted by rob90 on Tue, 2022-03-22 12:00
Went out last weekend and managed a tasty little feed. Baldie went 61cm and pink 73. Both taken on a 5in placcie on a 1oz jighead. Baldie was from 29m and pink from 40m. Nothing beats baldie imo and smaller pinks eaten fresh are great. What is a good size baldie? I regularly get them around this size as well as smaller models but I'm wondering what people consider ripper baldies.

Metro baldies pushing that
Metro baldies pushing that 70cm would have to be a rippa but i would be pretty happy with a baldie in the 60's as the larger models have quite a bit more meat, same with the pinky's and am not that keen to keep under 60cm but that also depends on what depth they come from.
You did well to get a 1oz down in the 40's, must have been a nice slow current.

Cool, 70cm is the new
Cool, 70cm is the new target. I always like fishing light and small, with a decent chute the ski seems to hold a slow steady drift in most conditions worth fishing, I upgrade to jigs if it's too quick.

I have got a baldy last 3
I have got a baldy last 3 trips ranging 56-58cm and was reasonably happy with them, not alot of meat on the smaller ones. I think the misses is doing a fish head curry today with a head and some wings.
rather be fishing

Nice! Don't need the big
Nice! Don't need the big trophy bucks to fill the freezer to come home with a smile. Yeah was out on the ski. Used eco mode and kept it to a small trip with no more than half throttle after having to donate my hard earned to the oil tycoons that morning.
