17 fish lined up on the pavers like that is really not such a good sight IMO.
The numbers of fish in that photo is a really really good example of why the boat is being recognised as the fishing unit rather than the angler....if you think that sort of catch is the way of the future or sustainable(and its a young fella posting it I might add which is a little troubling for me) then you are wrong sailor.
Nothing illegal about it in the slightest - hell he could have caught alot more with four on the boat! - but a really good example of why these changes are coming.

Thanks for your comments Jamie (for what they're worth)

We Don't catch fish like this on a regular basis, so when it comes along we take advantage.

The fish is sweet enough without the sugar coat.

And mate, we threw plenty back ;)

Tight lines, to everyone else

Cheers Dean

yeah good on you dean, and as you said, we all dont have days like that and you do take advantage of it, some people have just way to much bullcrap to add, maybe they cant catch that many themselves and they jealous or something, i for one say well done well within the limit and stuff the people who bag the ones that do good

Mon, 2008-05-19 22:54

Mate I've been part of the problem myself in the past and I've seen whats happening out there now.

If you guys think that catches like that are sustainable or the way of the future then you are sadly mistaken.

Jealous - not at all. Bullcrap - no not really. Reality - yes well I cant help that.

Enjoy it while you can.

I think you underestimate people on here Jamie

Mon, 2008-05-19 23:20

We have a high conservation ethos and promote fishing well within the limits.
Making selective comments about a fair catch is not the way to go in my view. We all know that fishing for the future is a primary concern and having said that we can still find it in our hearts to congratulate someone for having a rare good day out.
So in your view, where is the point where you are allowed to say great catch well done? Is it 1 below the bag limit, 2 below or does it have to be a magic percentage based on the scientific fecundity of the species caught but in inverse proportion to the relative biomass? You see I am of the view that a good catch within the limits is a good catch, not an opportunity to infer the guy did something morally wrong.
True I hate those brick paver kill shots they do absolutely nothing for me as I have said many times before, but no need to bag the angler. Save it for the guys that breach bag limits time and time again, freezer fill and release nothing unless its to upgrade. You see the problem is that they don;t post on websites very much so you end up shooting off at the guys that do do the right thing.
I know where you are coming from but its not very good form in my book to keep posting "friendly fire". I suggest you aim it at the enemy not the fellow that does his or her best to do the right thing.

Cheers

Andy Mac
