Good sized Swan crabs
Submitted by Pondy on Sat, 2013-01-26 18:28
Been having some crabbing success in Western Suburbs end of the Swan. Most are well over the minimum and have good yield.
Tuna heads seem to be the best bait and deeper water is the go. Here's some pics of the biggest one.

Boiled two at a time for 3-4
Boiled two at a time for 3-4 minutes, some rock salt and 1/2 handful of sugar in the water. I cook the big claws separately if they don't fit in the pot, or put the whole lot on the weber

Nice, I got a cracker male
Nice, I got a cracker male like that in hillarys few weeks ago and had plenty of meat, need to have a bash in the swan. Did he come from deepish water?
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Yep. Around 15m. So much
Yep. Around 15m. So much easier shelling 4 or 5 big ones than 10 just on size.
