GPS Help!!
OK guys I need your help.
I have a Lowrance LCX-27c fish finder & mapping GPS on a bass boat I puchased last week. The seller was a good guy and took very good care of everything. The day I bought the boat we tested the GPS and got the "GPS module not responding" notice. The sonar works great and I could see the trails and way points on the screen showing that the GPS was working before. We checked everything but could not figure it out. I bought the boat anyways and took it home. A friend has the LCX-28c and we tested my cables and receiver on his and it worked fine.
It appears that the unit it not communticating with the receiver or not sending it power when connected in my boat. all the fuses are good, power is coming out of the unit, cables and receiver work on friend's unit, what could it be?? I have a Humingbird 947c unit on the bow and it works great. I NEED HELP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tom

for starters
were you outside?
the GPS needs to pick up the satelites and being indoors or under a cover will restrict the signal. you should be able to scroll through the menu and display the satelites aquasition mode which indicates the numder of satelites it is attempting to track.
check the terminals to see if they are clean.

GPS SIGNAL
wojo , my mate had the same problem , i assume the gps has a built in antenna and this need s to have a clear view to the sky to recieve GPS signals, my freind antenna was directly under the windscreen hand rail and would drop in and out , if this is the case manually move the unit clear of metal work and try,

ok so the receiver is in the unit, or on the roof of your boat?

Mate I have the same unit
Mate I have the same unit and had exactly the same drama with it. All you need to do to fix the problem is log onto their website, download the software upgrade onto a sd card and put it in your unit. It updates it and problem gone.
