Skin

What are we talking about Steve. Skins, guts etc?

Never berleyed with shark before but I know the flesh off small school sharks can make pretty good bottom bashing bait.

I've used it for cray bait and it worked ok. Cant seeing it being an issue for anything else.

Cheers

Put head tail and skin

Sat, 2010-07-17 21:26

and some of the meat out for burley in a bag with rope tide to it and  on to a starpicket

No one was catching fish in that part of the beach, Do you guys think the smell of the shark bits would drive the other fish away

Cos when there are seals or dolphin and sharks The fish go off the bite

Conclusive

That sounds pretty conclusive Steve. I wouldn't use it again if it was me.

Seen that Shark Professor in

Seen that Shark Professor in Bimini producing shark repelant from dead sharks, apparently they wont go near another shark if it's dead.

Repellant

Sat, 2010-07-17 23:18

While sharkfishing have found 4 shark heads starting from a small one grading upwards to a still live big one on the same hook and wire trace. Used the dead pups and ones too small to send to market as tomorrows bait and never missed with them.

Have even diced it in to 1inch cubes and pickled it as snapper bait, goes nice and tough so the pickers don't rip it off.

Salt

Sun, 2010-07-18 14:36

Use lots and lots of salt for your brine , put a layer of cubes in, pour more salt in to form another layer then keep repeating untill your container is full.

One other trick is to cut your cubes and leave them spread out in the sun for an hour or so to harden the "skin" then put them in the brine.
