Capel - guy at work went to check his pots last week just on dark - fouled his prop on a pot rope and sank himself by the stern. Very lucky to tow the dinghy in by hand over a couple of hours - all night strip of the motor and cut feet was a good result in the circumstances..
Caught 5.2 tonne of crays on the south side of rotto this week so yes they have walked and moved half our gear out to 50 fathom. And the minister rekons there is a shortage of crays. The reserches need a good kick up the backside. We will be shut down for sure. The whole coast is having a smoking season!!!!!
Maybe its the reduced pots and boats that is making the guys that do have gear in the water get better numbers? Thats what I have heard as the guys are doing very well and thats their thoughts behind it.

Yup they have walked. Most of the ones in the shallows are only just size or under. Try the 30s if you are hoping to snare some.

crays!
That depth will get ya berried crays atm, go in closer (20-34m) on small edges, weed & broken ground will be better for clean whites!
