Depends - from memory the US ones are geo-fenced and no good here I think you can get a international one that is okay here but someone else might want to confirm this, but is it worth the risk of getting the wrong one or warranty problems when a GPS only isn't that much dearer considering - have a look around here for a good price

There is a big difference in price between the states and here.

From memory Geo fenced is basically where they will only show US (in this case) waters, so won't show Australian maps, Can get and international model from the US but make sure you make this clear in any correspondence.
