Ordinary? I think Carlton were just better for a large part of the match, seen it coming after watchin them against the Bombers last week. Was just a matter of wether they could sustain their intensity long enough and have enough avenues to goal which ultimatly wins games. Killed us in disposals and clearances, was our defence that stood tall which inevitably allowed us to be in a position to take the game when it counted. Hawks showed why they are prem favorites, and got the 4 points. Like I said preseason, Carlton are a team to watch in the second half of the year, Im glad to getum out of the way now.
Freo are rolling on, yet to beat any real contenders yet and have been lucky with teams on their level. Supporters should be lickin their lips, they have a very favouable fixture, no excuses for not finishing top 4.
As a nuetral observer, I reckon the Hawks have a few blokes that go missing when the real heat comes on.
Gonna be an interesting finals series.
Cant see the Pies grabbing a top four spot with the way we're playing at the moment but this is also rapidly becoming a pretty big development year for us. 7 first gamers blooded so far and one or two more to come.
1st bump ok, both at the footy, second was a result of dodgin his team mate, seen time done for either, reckless yaya, as said before by many, its part of the bloody game, players are getting a bit precious these days. Next they will all be wearin helmets and armour lol.
Pies got a mixed draw, they would be in a better posy if Malthouse was still there IMO. Wheres your star recuit from the Hawks LOL?
Just had a look at both of the hits, it would be a real shame if he gets weeks for either. His eyes are always on the footy and the fact he's one tough mother shouldn't be held against him haha
Would rather be out of sorts at this time of the year than during the final stretch. Nice to see the boys able to pull themselves back into the match these days when things aren't going so well. In the past they probably would've capitulated. Stronger mental aspect to their game this year.
Bagging freo for celebrating a win over Brisbane then being excited about the hawks 10 wins in a row is a bit ironic. How many of those 10 will be playing in sept? The hawks will choke again when it counts. I'm not a freo supporter either just find it funny having a crack at them for a win.
The number 9 has been painfull for a while now. Young guns getting stronger and now run out the whole game. Can't help feel that September action will include the famous yellow and black.
There, was that enough line to take on a bite of your rub? :)
The Hawks looked out of sorts until the last quarter.
As Freo supporters should be reminded, you don't win premierships mid season..... Yes but to be in the race you must win consistently mid year and didn't Lyons asked players for no injuries. Nah Fremantle were just cruising.
tim-o said regarding Freo....Yeah, thats when they will have to go up against the comps best, their style aint guna cut it against polished offensively powerful sides.
Gee tim-o I thought Sydney was a polished side cause they won the big one last year did they not. [Freo unlucky not to win against them at there home ground had to be happy with a draw ]
And how did Geelong go in that late game over ther last year ? Looked to me to be a lesson in the game of modern day AFL
Collingwood had no answer to our tight ares tactics
Draw, yeh and the Hawks (offensively powerful) flogged them the week before, just the same way they did to Freo. They need Buddy lol, maybe with Pav and Sandy finishing up at the end of the year, that should free up enough coin to put Buddy on the field till round 5 lol
Resolving to backing another team when talking bout the Hawks cos the one you support doesnt rate a mention? So you wouldnt want a player that could be the only way that Freo ever get a sniff at a flag?
freo v brisbane, it wasnt pretty, but it was a win. a forty point win. freo need to play better to play deep into september. and they will. ross the boss wont be pleased with this weeks performance. nice to see stephen hill get more of the ball. just needs to be more damaging. he and danyle pearce can and should be punishing the opposition with more inside 50s.
yes, and has he re-offended? no. learnt his lesson. probably a good thing he was caught by wa police who dont have a three strikes policy. and its a bit rich, criticism coming from a meth coast supporter. gardiner, cousins, fletcher, and the ex hawthorn player who's name escapes me. no wonder judd left. he could see what a joke west coast were at the time. to their credit i think the ckub has turned it around.
no, just a bit rich a west coast supporter having a go at players about drug use. so many west coast supporters defended (or was it denied) cousins drug use until it was undeniable! i am not condoning johnson's drug use history, but i am saying fremantle dealt with it decsively and effectively. here is a player who is making an enormous contribution to the fremantle football club, not dragging them down by being in denial.
Hey chill biscuit. Don't take it so seriously only having a jibe. You don't think the whole drug thing with West coast has been flogged to death on here. Guarantee you it would hvae been the tip of the iceberg with a lot of clubs at the time as well. I'd bet my last dollar that a lot of clubs discreetly cleaned up their act before the shit hit the fan.
and how did freo deal with it, i think it was a ten week club imposed suspension and removal from the leadership group. how did west coast deal with benny boy, thats right they stuck their head in the sand because he was their spiritual leader!!!
Ssssh Andy I thought the Dockers don't do drugs, just meth coast eagles & scorethawn
Got to agree with those purple pole smokers they are looking pretty schweet heading in to september, tried to tell a loyal supporter slash loosely a mate on that basis at the start of the season they could have a good crack at it but he wouldn't have a bar. Probably needs a dose of the delusion the rest of the cockburn crackheads have in abundance

Gotta agree with Matt here, sometimes you just bank the four points and move on, on and off the field.

for once I 100% agree with you Tim-o
Dockers should finish top 4 from here with the draw they have.
Having said that having an easy draw isn't exactly the perfect preparation for finals football

Bad luck
Can't beat bad luck with injuries and we've had ours this year. Mind you Wellingham hasn't done much for WC either.
I still can't believe last years best and fairest hasn't played yet.
Still confident we'll help shape the finals series, but it will be hard to win from outside the top four.

Fair
yep, we were poor during the first half and a bit but did the job in the last quarter.
I don't think playing 3 weaker opponents (GWS, GC and Melbourne) in a row then the bye helped our form. 10 wins in a row and out of form, go figure
As Freo supporters should be reminded, you don't win premierships mid season. The real stuff doesn't start till September.
