Helm mat

Looking to reduce shock impact when on long trips offshore aside from shock absorber seats. (yes I know to reduce speed) Has anyone tried using a helm mat? There are a few options ranging from $20 to around $500.

I used one of the Kmart camping mats. Was $5.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Mat and shoes
My most efficient cruise speed in the small centre console is only 16 knots, so the boat rarely leaves the water. However it does chatter a bit if going faster, so I've made things more comfy with a pieces of Tube Safe Matting to stand on behind the console, plus a pair of Crocs, which are very spongy and give a good cushion themselves.

Hi mate. John F gave me some advice when I asked this question a few years back , go to Clark rubber and buy a sheet of their high density foam absorbing matting the one I got is blue one side and grey the other , was pretty pricey but so worth it and it's still going strong after a few years definitely helps with the back and knees
