Help!! Raymarine c90w vs lowrance hds8? Anyone use DSM300?

Hi Guy's

Just got my first boat (21ft Stejcraft) and I need to update my GPS/fishfinder.

I have been looking at a Raymarine c90w with a DSM300 and a 1kw TM260 but I dont know anyone with any of this stuffto see what its like. I will be fishing in about 50-100m, bottom bouncing mostly. I have also looked at the Lowrance HDS8 with the structure scan but im unsure if it will work in that kind of depth. Can you put a 1kw trannie on a HDS8? Does it put out 1KW?

Any advice would be much appreciated, I have around $2000 to spend so if you can recommend any other combo's let me know.

Cheers!!

I think you need the dsm400

I think you need the dsm400 to run 1wk an above. I had a C120 combo with a 600hz for about a year. It still worked really good! Check with Pete at maritime marine electronics in Freo. He's a raymarine guru! 0401039433

i now just run the C120 as a plotter an a FCV 295 as ssounder

if you only want to spend around the 2k go the FCV 585 with tm 260. Tune it right an it will run rings around the compotition

DSM300 will run 1kw.DSM400

DSM300 will run 1kw.

DSM400 runs 1-3kw and DSM450CP is chirp.

Structure scan will not work well at that depth( personal experience of some serious SIMRAD gear )

RM are making seriously nice units, i have the E7D with the basic 600w Transducer and can't fault it. and will be going to a E125 when i get the cash.

The DSM + Transducer is half of your budget but.

But from what i have read as reece said for the budget the 585 would kill it.

Yeah the C120 is a awsom! So good having a big GPS! I fing it helps with finding ground / edges. And the go to and rout planers help an night. The only thing I don't like is you can only hold 1000 way points in the unit at a time. But you get around that by having a few sd cards. Say one for down south one for metro one for the abrolhos an one for exy. I all so run the ray planer on my lap top. I have a old unit but. I think the new ones have a bigger memory
