Here we go again, another flood???

Another flood warning has been issued for Carnarvon and the Gascoyne river catchment.  The latest predictions have given a guesstimate of 5 metres for tomorrow [Sunday] afternoon with a real good chance of it going higher depending on the severe weather warning issued this morning for thunderstorms, possibility of very heavy rain and flash flooding, so its not looking too good.

Rain , who wants some, you're welcome to it, take as much as you like, take some extra for you mates, take.....................

Just heard from

Sun, 2011-02-13 13:32

friends in Carnarvon and they've cleaned everything in their onsite van, everything back to normal, they don't need anymore rain thats for sure  or you for that matter John.

Yes send some down to Perth we need the rain, our dams are crook at the moment.

Never had so many days with a easterly or south easyly blowing all the time, old fart reckons we'e moved north a bit more especially after that 9+ earth quake a couple of years ago at Arche, Indonesia.  Weather seems to have altered.

Bonus

Sun, 2011-02-13 23:00

As of Friday those of us who were involved with the flood get a $1000 for adults and $400 each child the same as the flood victims over east, the fire  victims down your way are also elegible. It will be a huge help in getting things rebuilt and back to some sort of order.

Rain

Tue, 2011-02-15 10:15

Got another 16mm in a magic thunderstorm last night and 22mm the night before.

Getting like Broome weather, afternoon thunderstorms and heavy showers, andd bloody muggy during the day.

The river is running at 4.8 metres, just below flood level so we hope that they don't continue to get heavy rain inland.

Well looks like rice could be the new export crop of the Pilbra if this carries on!

with the outlook now being that Darwins little blower could drift over west to us in the enxt week as well..

Hope you guys get some slack from the rain gods, as this has gone from drought to undersea world in no time!

How did you go yesterday

Sun, 2011-02-20 01:00

How did you go yesterday Carnarvonite? I arrived in Carnarvon on Thursday evening on my way home from Broome, floodways around Manilya Roadhouse all flowing, as the road south was closed I booked into Gateway Motel for the night, got up this morning and the road from Gateway back to the Palms BP Roadhouse was flooded, Main Roads told me the river went over early in the morning, went down to the roadtrain assembly area and the water was 500mm deep over Memorial Dve and flowing very fast all coming down from the river! I hooked up and left in a hurry as they were letting roadtrains go south out of town, 2 floodways down near the old stockyards had about 150mm of water over them so I dont understand why the closed the road south out of town.

Packed everything up high in thee bus and took all the other stuff with us . Couldn't crank the bus up to drive it out because after all the rain in the last month would have gone about 10 feet and down it would have gone losing the added height needed to keep everything dry. Even if I had got a big loader to help I don't think we would have succeeded, probably just dug bloody great holes in the park.

And to really rub salt in to the wounds I cooked the motor in the Patrol towing sons van out. I must have kicked not only a chinaman but his dog as well with all the things that have gone wrong in the last couple of months

Floor level

Sun, 2011-02-20 17:31

If my reckoning is correct the water SHOULD!!! have been about an inch below the floor level of the annex. Just as well I started rebuilding the cupboards in the bus first and left the annex floor and putting the new vinyl down untill later.

All the stuff left in the annex is up two milk crates high off the floor so it all again should be ok.
