Were you fishing inside the Marina

Mon, 2008-07-07 22:42

between the restaurant and the yachts.
An old guy told me he has caught a few big skippy and some pinkys there. It can also be good for squid and crabns.
Unfortunately there are also a lot blowies there.

Some guy was fishing the small jetty behind aqwa the other night (the one facing into the harbour) and he pulled up his rod and had a solid crab on it just eating away at the mulie, would have been about the size of a medium size blue manna ..

He said he was fishing for some bream and on the bigger outfit some tailor ..

Also Colin, i went to Ocean Reef rock walls and i spoke to this man and apparently he caught a decent Mulloway last Thursday night just down there, he seemed credible so i believed him lol ..

Skippy are funny creatures, you can be 5 yards away from a 'hot spot' and miss them entirely. Saw that many times at Woodmans, fishing towards the end facing wappet groin (the north side). It's really infuriating when someone near you is halling good skipy in, you're using exactly the same terminal gear and bait and not a whisker!

Im going to be there at about 1230ish might try both sides see how the wind is!

Dreamweaver - funny you say that because i was at the same spot at keenfisho and this guy 10m away from me was getting a skippy/small tailor every cast when i was using the exact same rig as him and i only managed 1 tailor and 2 skippy in 2 hours lol!

Spontaniety of fishing ... i love it!

From memory Spess has also ran into some Sambos at Hillarys

Tue, 2008-07-08 20:10

You never know what you could catch there. Some Fishwrecked members in the past have caught decent bream inside the harbour.
Tommo, a pretty big tailor was caught from that small jetty a little while back. It is also good for squid at night.

yeh Son Of Irish....that was me and my mate. Think we got about a dozen or so fish. Was a good arvo and first time Ive actually caught something decent, other than buff bream. All of the fish I kept, including the largest, are up to 540gm.
