Hillary's Boat harbour

 Hi Guys,

Gonna head down to HBH this evening to have a flick around with some lures. My question is, am i wasting my time? Everytime i seem to head out i come back empty handed. Granted i am new to perth and the fishing scene but i never seem to catch anything. I have tried bait, lures, soft plastics, 3 gang hooks, small long shank hooks - No matter what type of fish i seem to target i allways strike out!! I was recently told the moon plays a big part in the fishing - with that in mind i headed down to club Capricorn Thursday night. Conditions seemed perfect but yet again no fish to show for my enthuasism. Can some body please tell me where i am going wrong , i have just about tried everything - early mornings, late nights ect..... Ideally i would like to chase some Whiting, Herring , Tailor just for abit of sport.

Any info passed on would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

yes mate fishing in harbours is always good fun even if ur going for bream. If I was you i would use soft plasticks and hard bodys. so keep  on trying there and tell me what you ended up getting.

Ocean reef marina in early mornings facing south on rock wall

 Always produces.

just watch what the locals do, and try that next time if it works.

hillarys is slower, I would have constant small amounts of burley, sunset best time.

Try the south wall just up from aqua so you are fishing in front of boyinaboat reef

So i went down to HBH Saturday evening as mentioned. Still no fish!! i was there right on sundown for a flick around with my lures ( Halco roosta poppers and halco gold and silver twisties ) Even tried burley and fish oil to bring the buggers in. Im thinking maybe abandon the lures and start using smaller hooks and bait?

Yep, HBH = bait for me.

Catch heaps of herring/tarwine/whiting using/skippy using small long shank hooks and the "jelly bean" bait theory (small pieces of bait). Deshell prawn and cut into 3 or 4 pieces or alternativly use ox heart (my personal fave).
