Dorothy Dunnit's 'Gemeni' book describes how 'society' fished in 1497.

Using a live duck for bait
Using a live duck for bait use to be quite common in Asia, but have not seen anyone use a goose.

yep
They tied fishing line around the cormarents neck so they couldn't swallow, get them to regurgitate and theres their fresh fish.

Cormarents
Seen a couple of programs on them, amazing to watch. Poor comarent goes to swallow the fish, but can't get it down due to the line around it's neck.
