hobie outback or revolution ??

just a question to the kayaking crew ,, im looking at a hobie kayak but being in busso there isnt anywhere to test these kayaks down here ..
my usuall fishing from it will be salmon and demersals ..
i realise the outback is wider and so should be stable and the Revo is longer so it may be faster ..
i suppose i just need to know if the outback is good enough on the open water ?? id prefer the stability as im only going to be heading a few mile in it ..
any oppinions from the guys that use these ???

Not a yakker, but the fact is you can buy an outback any day of the week kind of seals it for me.
If the outback was any good, why do people sell it for the revo all the time?

Revos are great! You just
Revos are great! You just need to be careful about which way you point in chop/swell. THey don't go so well when teh swell is rolling in from the side. I'm not sure if the outbacks are better but with teh extra width, they should be. Revos are sharper in the nose and skinnier so they are faster and also penetrate the chop better.
If it's mainly for offshore fishing, maybe and adventure is the way to go. A few other hobie owners come on here so hopefully one of them can give you some more information. I have a Revo but have not used an outback myself.

hobies
me and my dad both have outbacks and find them really good. Yes theya re a bit shorter than the others, but for us we love the stability - mostly because we actually dive off them as well so when testing them we took the dive gear with us. they are not that slow, but they are hard to paddle with the oar, but i always use the mirage drive.
Is nice to also be able to move around on them a bit as well - can easily sit sideways etc........

Theres not a lot of
Theres not a lot of difference between them, i have been off places such as 3 mile reef off Ocean Reef and the(Outbacks) have gone as well as anything else for the folks rideing them so they are a capable offshore machine, with speed you have a choice of three mirage drive type fins standard ,ST and ST turbos,,you will want ST or Turbos for offshore,,a sailing rudder is handy as well better than a standard one,it bigger and you can turn better etc
Maybe check out the 2nd hand market and grab the best bargain,,at the end of the day you will be happy with either and both will suit yours needs well.
Oh and see if you can take the Callows corner one for a run, what about the bunbury dealer any demo runs availble ?
