Hookah's
Anyone use them?
Have been looking around at them trying to find a good model one.
The electric ones seem to be pretty good, but pretty $$$
Below is the one i found thats ok, but almost 4k.
Does anyone have any advice, or know somewhere in Perth that could be a good place to look at them??

There is some site that
There is some site that shows you how to make them out of 4WD air pumps, which is exactly whats in some makes! It uses a fire extinguisher for the reservoir.
Don't forget your pony bottle :P

Thanks Feral much
Thanks Feral much appreciated.
Yeah ive done both hookahs and tanks, and i like both.
But the missus is also keen to get under water, but not too confident.
Also i will do quite a lot of shallow dives around rotto, and Down south which after a little experience seems to be easier with hookahs.
Dont worry till, pony bottles will never be left behind :)

Give Hookah Dive a visit.

I've been using one for over 15 years and love it. Yes it is a pain with tunnelled reef (you have to back track), but I and a mate can dive all day (within limits of course) on multiple sites in remote locations - can't beat that.
Always connected to the boat and great for exploring new ground - you don't worry about blowing a tank.
Probably save about $600 a year in fills.
We built ours - s/s frame Twin recievers, clisby 8cfm compressor and 5HP motor (on our second one now). Oil filter, fine filter and carbon filter. 80m hose with y piece and 10m to each diver. Thats nearly 1K just for the hose.
I use a pony for +15m dives. We can do 2 divers down to 25 metres (if both good on air).
Biggest fear is idiot boat skippers who drive about with their eyes shut
4K is about right if you want 2 down to 25metres.
Cheers Pete

I have a Clisby with a 5.5
I have a Clisby with a 5.5 hp 10cfm and picked it up out of the quokka for $800. It had 3 regs 100m hose with a T peice with two 15m lengths for each diver And heaps of extras came with it. So its just a matter of looking around and you will find one for a good price.

I use a PowerSnorkel from
I use a PowerSnorkel from Powerdive down in Mosman Park. For the depths that I dive for crays nothing comes close for ease and usability. Rig it up in minutes and you're in. Having hoses instead of tanks also makes it easier getting into tight cray nests, you get used to watching your hose in no time.
Perfect for one person if you're diving reefs up to 12m and great for shallower dives with 2 people, particularly if one isn't experienced, don't think you'd be wanting to take them any deeper without any type of dive training/experience anyway?
There are various Powerdive models depending on how serious/type of diving you want to do, I just love the fact I can tow the powersnorkel around on the surface.
Cheers!
