How do you keep warm

Now that winter is on us with the cold mornings. How do you keep warm when out on the boat or on the beach. Do you throw on an extra layer of cloths  or take out heaps of hot coffee or soup. i know im looking forward to hitting the water again after a few months high and dry but not looking forward to the cold mornings out on the water.

reminds me of the night under the narrows with a howling easterly when tash stole my jumper to use as a pillow. i had a cold for about a week after that. usually, 2 jumpers, warm jeans or track pants and a hat. those that know me know that i barely ever dont have a hat on in any conditions. in storms its the same, with a weatherproof jacket on.

Well, a good jumper always

Thu, 2010-06-24 23:36

Well, a good jumper always helps, particularily those good ol polar ones.

Otherwise when I went to the snow I got some thermals (the merino ones) and they're actually pretty good as they barely add a layer plus they keep you nice and toasty too. They seem to dry (or at least feel dry) quick. Plus as they're thin, so you're not a walking michelin man, so easier to move around/fish/etc.

I'm usually just fine with a jumper though

As for keeping warm, layer it up! Long sleeve tshirt with a good quality all weather jacket does the trick even over here where it gets a lot colder than perth :P

Been there, heard that, try my t-shirt!

I have a Vespa Grandturismo GT200,  its so funny seeing all the tosspots getting burnt when you peel them off at lights in a scooter, gold is also that cops just can't really seem to ever bother paying you any attention. Oh did I mention traffic is for other people and it does Joondalup-Perth and back 6-8 times on an 8l tank?

Ha ha!

So you're one of those annoying people who thinks he is on a real bike, zig zagging through the traffic to get to the front of the lights, then beating everyone off the line only to hold them up again doing 15kms under the speed limit 50 metres further up the road!  Think that's why us tosspots are "getting burnt". LOL!

I would tell you to get a real bike but...  I don't have one myself so I'll just have to wait until I can grow a set and tell my missus I'm getting a bike!  Then I'll jump back on here and challenge you to meet me at a set of lights!

As for keeping warm???  2 sets of undies, thermals, 2 shirts, 2 jumpers, 2 jackets, 1 raincoat, jeans and tracky daks, gloves, socks, shoes, beanie, scarf or just wait till Summer before you go out fishing again!

Got home here in Carnarvon yesterday after a forced trip down to the big smoke and was very happy to see the 50k to go sign.
Had to drive from Two Rocks at 6am on Friday to head to Perth and had 4-6mm of ice all over the car with 0.2deg on the radio and much the same again on Saturday.

To keep warm while fishing I have a KaiWAKA brand lined jacket with 1/2 sleeves a big collar and the tail piece is about a foot long to keep your bum covered while bending over. If its going to be wet as well as cold on go the heavy duty bib and braces wet weather pants.

Like others further north its nice to be able to rub it in while sitting here in shorts and T shirt typing this with 26deg outside but was a chilly for here 10deg overnight.
