how to get a boat license?

hi, im new to perth fishing n boat. im living in cannington.
i juz wanna ask where should i go to get a boat license to be legally qualified to cruise around perth water. also wats the cost of getting a boat license?
thanx loads for the info, juz a novice trying to start a hobby n family outing :)

It's pretty easy. If you read the book online you can just go and sit the written test and then have a instructor come out in your boat to assess you (thats what i did, really easy) or you can just go to a place that does it all they will teach you and do all the tests.

I think its cheaper to do the first option but no i dea how much it costs these days i did it many yrs ago now! Freo boat school $170 all inclusive.

I did mine at Point Peron Sea
I did mine at Point Peron Sea Rescue. Cost me about $180. The big point for me was supporting your local sea rescue group.
If you look in the Sunday times under boating there are a few advertised.
