Wanting to add an easy to erect outrigger system and can do with some advise please.
In my quest to get ready for rock and roll Exmouth fising contest next summer,
I would like to add an outrigger system to my tub.
Can do with advise from people who heve expirience in this regard.
I have very little expirience in this regard with the modern set ups.
Been to the shops and found a decent outrigger hardware Kit (lines, glass weights, clips etc, all in one) in a nice and very friendly staffed tackle shop in Scarborough.
I am thinking off adding 2 extra rocket launchers to my hardtop set up and to weld them on in an almost horizontal/ LAY DOWN possition.
Use the bolts through the SS tube to actualy bolt the rods in, (they have a wooden bottom end)
Buy 2 beach rods that are white, to use as outrigger poles (they are 12ft long).
Add the outrigger kit to it plus a katrol and cleat on either side!
Would this work well?
from each outrigger rod I would get at least 3mtr span outside the boat which = 6 mtr plus the boats beam, over 2 mtrs.
Total span somewhere in the vacinity of 7+mtrs.
Would the beach rods be able to withstand the pulling of the lures & dead bait (Rigged up Mullets and small Tuna's)?
Your constructive input is eagerly awaited

The beach rods will more than
The beach rods will more than likely be too soft for the purpose. I bought one of the Escapin tackle set ups and seems to be holding up well.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Height and stiffness
are two things that a good set of outriggers will have. The height creates a higher angle between the line and the water and will enhance the action of the lure (skirts with flat, slant of concave faces). The stiffness of the rigger aids in giving a crisp release when a strike occurs. What you have suggested would be less than ideal imo.

I wouldnt muck around trying
I wouldnt muck around trying to get things to work that might eventually work. If its for a purpose trip (such as Exmouth) just get a kit with adjustable bases, either splined or hinged, and some good poles.
You wont regret it.
Good luck!

reelax
Hi glastronic
Reelax are the best value for money and fibreglass as well the import aluminium poles are a bit stiff for my liking in the smaller size.Reelax make some neat mounts which could mount of your hard top a 10 to 12 foot pole is perfect when mounting the pole lay them down along the gunnel they should not hang over the transom anymore than a couple of feet max this will help with mounting position rule is they finish in line with the trany but i have found a little over hang doesn,t hurt Nothing worse than riggers being mounted too forward and making life hard.
