how to remove saltwater scale from rods/reels recovered from ocean floor

just had a number of rods and reels that were recovered from ocean floor in salvage operation, down underwater for about 4 days, they all have this white scale on them

it looks like a lime or calcium scale, but it is the first signs of marine growth, Any ideas as to how to remove, It might help the boys out at Bluewater Tackle

ifanybody has experienced it before

Salt Away or SX-50 use as directed and soak the reels and scrub the rods. I use it to flush my OB and the motor plus spray all my gear then rinse.

Good luck bud looks like you need some.

In work in the aquarium trade and with the marine tanks we used just a straight vinegar to get the salt scale off and works a treat.  I'd give that a go
