Icom to Lowrance

Has anyone successfully wired up their Icom DSC to their HDS GPS and can let me know which wires they spliced together? Cheers JF

Cheers Scuba but the M330

Cheers Scuba but the M330 doesn't have a plug to allow it to be connected to the NMEA backbone but had a chance to have a proper look and pretty sure I've figured it out after getting my head back around it:

HDS TX_A (yellow) to Icom RX_A (yellow)
HDS TX_B (blue) to Icom RX_B (green)

Can only connect them up and see what happens but I already have my Furuno running off the HDS7 GPS so I'm fairly confident.

R-250 NMEA 0183 Wiring Diagrams

Use this diagram to connect the LVR-250 to a Lowrance GPS unit that is not connected to a radar unit.  Once the wiring is correct, set up the communication port.

  1. Press MENU twice and select SYSTEM SETUP
  2. Select COMMUNICATIONS PORT
  3. Under com port 1, set the baud rate to 4800
  4. Highlight NMEA 0183 OUTPUT and press ENT to select
  5. Highlight NMEA 0183 INPUT and press ENT to select

The baud rate under communications port 1 should be set to 4800, and both the NMEA 0183 OUTPUT and NMEA 0183 INPUT should be selected.  The GPS unit should now send and receive data to and from the radio.  The radio will indicate latitude and longitude coordinates when it is receiving data.
