I know its not a fish, and i have my thoughts as to exactly what it is, but being so small I thought best to ask those who know far more than I do.

not a paddle crab (not sure of the name though)they are fairly common under rocks along the downstream parts of the river along with the other more common type of rock crab both make good bait for big bream.
ah ok,
cheers for that, this was caught on rocks about 20m from open ocean.

It's the new model of the cranka crab (just joking)
Thanks for the replies guys.
Figured would have been good for bait, but without knowing exactly what it was, I wasnt too keen on killing it!

No spines between the eyes so definitely not an Asian paddle crab,
it could be a small four lobed swimming crab
All work and no fishing makes me a dull boy!!!!!!!!
