importing Mercruiser spares

has anyone brought in spares for Mercruiser motors and legs before?

I have a few leads through websites with some suppliers having replacement non-Mercruiser spares for a third of the price of gen items.

Time to do my U-joint knuckle unies and bearings when I replace the bellows soon.

Also trim rams are stiff and seals stuffed from salt buld up, so may repalce them with aftermarket units.

May as well look at doing manifolds and waterpump at the same time, then she is spic&span till it needs a full rebuild in the far far future ( I hope lol)

Compressions where still good, so not worried about iternals.

cheers

 Local quotes for genuine

Local quotes for genuine spares are just far too high, with local repairs by a dealer looking at over $7k vs importing aftermarket spares and fitting for under $3k!

here it is

Fri, 2011-12-16 09:22

About 10 years ago i had boat with twin Mercruiser Diesels (4.2 litre turbo) and bravo 2 drives

The engines were great but the "merc" bits on them were not -we used to use the boat a lot and as a result were always buying parts!

I found these guys were great  -and better still there is an exploded view of all parts/engines/drives they sell and it lists all the prices -  i needed new seawater strainers (just the wire basket) circa 140 each here and a 6 week wait  -got them for 55 USD each and here in a fortnight.....as the yanks say

go figure!!

1)"CLICK HERE FOR MERCRUISER & MERCURY PARTS LOOK UP & ONLINE ORDERING"

2)'SEARCH WITH PICTURES' (top left of screen)

3) the the engine/model/drive you ar after -

Good luck
