Installing Icom in GME Cutout

Hey all.

I’m looking at upgrading my VHF as it’s around 12y old and a GME and looking at the Icom M330G. My issue is that the GME has a dash cutout of 157x58 and the Icom is 139x53 leaving me a gap of 18x6 through fibgreglass dash backed by marine ply. Can anyone point me in the right direction of clips etc that I can use to sit the new radio in the existing cutout or would I have to build it back up with ply/HDPE?

The face of the radio is 156.6x66.5 so if there’s a noticeable gap at the front I plan on getting some carbon fibre plate to hide it.

Cheers JF

I did the same on my last boat. Made an ally plate that went over the bigger hole.

Cheers guys, a few options to look at that won't cost a bomb.

Mothertruckers at Amazon US are charging GST now. Ah well, still saving over $250 on a radio and a new compass

Ended up getting some black perspex laser cut and have welded all the pieces together with acetone. Seems to be a stong bond so hopefully she does the trick. Pic is above.
