Interpretations

Always interested in how different people interpret different images. Took these five pictures out wide on Saturday. Thoughts on bottom structure, target, etc.

Hmm
If i was fishing exxy id be more keen on the bottom two in the late 200s. The 340m one looks like a false reading to me.
Did you get any fish off them?

If I saw any of those returns
I would rip a line over the side straight away, I know you have said that you only got green eye but you could not go past any of those returns and just write them off IMO

What tranny are you running
What tranny are you running there? I see the speed is less than 1kt in those pics, and you seem to have the gain in auto?
I'm no expert, but hopefully you can tune that sounder better and pick up some speed.
I used to have a FCV 587 and could only get 4kts before it cluttered out.
Now I have a 295 and I am slowly coming to grips with tuning it.

Hi Bucko, I'm running an
Hi Bucko, I'm running an Airmar R199 2kw transducer with a GSD24 unit for the deep water. The 1 knot speed was because we had lines in the water when I took the pictures and there was almost zero tide or drift out there at the time. A lot of the clutter was due to me reversing the boat after the lines were in the water to change boat drift angle or to get some movement/drift.
I usually play around with the Gain and TVG out there depending on the conditions or speed I am travelling. Most of the day it would have been in manual, but on these occasions I was playing with three in-built settings being "auto low", "auto medium" and "auto high" gain.
When I fine tune in manual I can usually pick up clear images at pretty solid speed with the current setup. In the 400 metre mark this would be at 15 knots no problem. I run twin screens with integration between GPS and Sonar Modules, so I can pause sonar screen whilst moving, touch sonar screen at areas of interest with automatic GPS marking on the touched point.
Cheers
John

Snuffs,
OK, cool sounds like you got it sussed.
What day were these taken, as I was out wide off Rocko in Saturday just gone and we got a bit fat zero fish all day.
Had plenty of good shows, but no result.
Even tried for dhuies on the way in and could only managed a few sargent bakers.
Very poor day for us.

Hi Mate - Took these on
Hi Mate - Took these on Saturday. Magic day. We were off the trench north of Hillary's which is a pretty long motor out. Plenty of fish/activity for us in the 100's, but unfortunately in the super deep water really struggled to get away from the green-eyes! Couldn't go 5 seconds on the bottom without hooking them ... and we covered some ground!

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.
