It’s hot up here

couple of days into this job, been like 40 degrees every day. Looking after a few D11s up on an expansion site about an hours and a bit drive north of Newman. Haven’t raised a spanned in anger yet, but I’m sure it will come.

Had our first warm one today, but it peaked and fell away pretty quick, think it got to about 36.5 here. But acknowledge it’s a different heat up there.

No mate, I have the service

Tue, 2018-12-04 19:02

No mate, I have the service truck, we need to go back to Newman every day to take on fuel for the dozers and 5 types of oil and what ever parts we need, so we lose about an hour and twenty going to work and same again coming back again. The guys who drive the dozers stay in the village, I think it’s West Angela’s, that’s what it says on the post when we turn left of the highway. Getting used to the heat now, lots of water and just dreaming about getting to the coast somewhere. But, it’s worth 15k for a months work, so that pays for our fuel to get around.

My old stomping ground West Ang, so I’ve got an idea where your at. Done that road trip to Newman a few times too, probably not missing much not staying in the village, contractors get rooms way down the bottom and once you go there to get cleaned up, you got to walk all the way back again, have a feed and walk alway back to your room again. Pain in the arse I reckon.

Yeah, I hear what your saying, I much rather come back here and have a shower, grab a feed, few coldies and sleep tight, I’m tucked away behind a building of the people I work for, use their power and water. You wouldn’t know I was here just driving past, and that suits me.

Another hotty, 44 degrees on

Fri, 2018-12-07 17:59

Another hotty, 44 degrees on the truck dash most of the day, giving the air con and absolute hammering both here and at work, although I’m sitting outside enjoying a couple, or maybe 5 coldies whilst deciding on tea. When I was here a couple of years ago, there was a food caravan just around the corner, but it’s not there anymore, so no junk food for tea, but gee they made a good burger.
