Its been awhile.
Gday everyone it has been awhile since I posted but I guess I had nothing to post about :D and now I do...
The first trip was a very well planned diving trip to Rotto. Last year my girlfriends mum passed away from Breast Cancer and it was very tough on her and her brother. anyway we were throwing a bit of a do for her and the local pub for her one year memory and I figured that everyone loves fresh crayfish so I rounded up a good crew and we were off. Plain and simple it was a perfectly flat day, the vis was the best iv seen it, we found the spot and caught crayfish !! Once we had enough lobster I told the skipper to take me a certain spot where I had seen a Dhuey lurking earlier and I jumped in with the spear and on my first dive there he was, my first Dhuey, plenty of crays and home by 11am.
After this successful day out our Captain Marcy who just so happens to be my girlfriends brother headed off up North to work therefor we were land based for a few months but now hes back wev been into it ! After a few quick trips and nothing major to report, I was in his ear about tales of Jigs, Placcies, big dhues, pink snapper, Jurien Bay, two rocks and other fabulous ideas that I come up with after lurking the fishwrecked forums. So off we went to the fishing store $1500 later we were set to explore the grounds beyond the sound.
Our first trip proved to be completely useless as we headed out to the South Western corner of Rotto in search of good ground. 20s,30s,40s,50s nothing, no bites, no strikes, lost jigs (snags I think) and our expectations far from exceeded. I convinced myself and the captain it was matter of time and patience before we succeed and before we knew it we were back at the ramp with our tail between our legs. Never the less its was an amazing day on the water last Saturday and good to try something different cant wait to catch something on a jig or placcy and show the boys there are other ways than just a piece of bait.
If anyone out there is also new to the jigging and placcy scene and can shed some light on anything we may be doing wrong that would be awesome.
Cheers T.K

Nice feed there... but isn't cray season closed at the moment?

Yep cray season is definitely closed at the moment, the photos are from a trip earlier on in the year :).
Haha my dive for that dhu proved there was only one around !
Anyway as a quick report wev been out the last couple of nights. Last night went alright, 3 snapper only one was a keeper, 2 good Tailor and a few other throw back including a moray eel and a small tailor.
Tonight was dead as a door knob !! Not one bite, Im guessing the large moon has something to do with it !!
We are getting there but yesterdays effort was all on bait and anchor. I really want to get into some good jigging action but time and spots are limited at the moment.
