It's big

Copied this from another forum. No details seem to be available as yet as to where, when, blue or black or size but it looks big. Around 700kg seems to be the estimate of most?

wonder if they managed to get it on board without tipping the boat over, the guy on the other side looks a bit worried!

Disgusting!
See the man in the blue shirt with the knife. Taking something he thinks is of value. The rest probably went back in as dead fish. I don't see a rod in the boat so I can only assume that this was a line job or is just a fake picture.

Look again Vince
I think you will find the 'knife' is a rope. My guess is this fish was probably handlined in. I have no doubt that in my mind that this fish, if they managed to get it to shore was eaten and not wasted. Disgusting no.

Looking again
It is probable that the guy is holding the very large hook attached to a rope. In our part of the world we tag and release these beasts. Disgusting yes Alan.

Correct, in Australia
we do mostly release these fish. That however doesn't make it disgusting for others in less fortunate parts of the world to capture narlin and eat it. The fish they have captured is not on any endangered list and is probably more prolific than the WA dhuie. Maybe something to think about when you next catch a dhuie. Disgusting no.

I Dream about that Alan. being a land based man. Even so I have to abide by the rules to protect our species.

Huge
Would have been some fun for them on a line. My Brother was over in Cameroon the other week- the locals had been heading out to the oil rigs about 60 clicks offshore and had been getting a few Billies out there. All of them kept and eaten. It does seem like a waste for people over here being so blessed with fresh food, but i can understand why they keep the fish over that way.

that is one huge fish. would have been a huge task to get that one on board. i dont like seeing fish like this being taken but whats to say this fish wasnt dead or couldnt be revived enough for it to survive. definatly a few nice feeds there for quite a few families or even a whole villave
RUSS and SANDY. A family that fishes together stays together
