Geraldton has been good for a while
If you are in the right place. Spoke to a bloke I know, pulling his four in shallow for his bag from 1 or 2 pots everyday, but a mate of his has been doing better. Mind you, this is in a place that didn't produce a cray last whites. So his mate, bored with pulling just 1 pot to get his 24 from 6, decided to pull the whole 6. Counted 180 keepers. And yes, I know, not allowed to keep your quota from 1.
I''l just go and get my coat.

Randall I find if you grab
Randall I find if you grab them by the head and don't touch their legs and get them on ice quickly it limits the number of legs they drop

Cheers. We put them straight into the kill tank that is full of fresh sea water. Its more getting them out of the pots when they drop their legs.

But the swell only came up overnight?
Depending on when it came up ( early or late) can affect one day or the next. Am just going on the fact I was told it was 3m or close at Kalbarri ( I'm away at work) --when that happens, the shallows are done and you are chasing them deeper, if you want to persist.

Looks like the numbers in
Looks like the numbers in close are dropping rapidly. Only 6 from 4 from our spots in 11m near the back of the reef, lots of little reds thrown back.
Time to pull the pots out anyway

Is that a typo or not
405 too many abs, you are kidding right. If that's right the boat trailer and bloody car should be forfeited.
Fisheries should have a good boat sale some time in the future and have the proceeds go towards fishing related projects not general revenue.

Pot missing today took
Pot missing today took 40mins to find the others and 2 were 400m away. Hasn't happened all season... I knew I should have checked them on Sat. Heaps of pots seem to have gone.
Missing one was Outside of 3 mile Ocean Reef in 18-20m. Missing has pink and white bouy close together with DR0582 burnt in with soldering iron if anyone has seen it. Jarra pot and base
It's been engraved in 4 spots bit due to growth could see it. Put me in a bad mood!
Cheers

Pretty big swell up here today.
First down the ramp at 4.45, looked at it breaking most of the way across the mouth, went Nuh. Wind had just dropped out, but I didn't consider it worth the risk. Wind didn't stay down for long. A few went out, apparently--this is when people who are determined to " get in as much fishing as possible" on their holidays come to grief up here.

News reported
Channel 7 news reported 2 boats had come unstuck over at Rotto today, one swamped by a wave a couple of surfers got to close to and the other was a launch that had the motor give up and washed up on the reef.
Bad start to the holiday season for a couple of people.
Stay safe good people.

Yea it's not good news on
Yea it's not good news on probably one of the busiest boating days of the year.
I also heard a pan pan call from water police asking for assistance for a boat on fire down at Mandurah.
I could hear the police loud and clear, Mandurah surf lifesaving now and then but that was about it....I was about 15nm west of the North tip of Garden Island and didn't hear anything more.
Watching people at a busy boat ramp can be interesting to say the least. There are a lot of people who you can tell don't use a boat very often and maintenance on some vessels is questionable to say the least.
My fishing spots are so secret........... even the fish don't know where they are !!
