Jurien last week
Matty, I spent last week in Jurien. Pretty windy for much of it, but we caught macks to 10kg and longtail tuna to 15kg just out behind the islands, and plenty of snapper, baldies & black arse out on the bank (about 20nm out). I was surprised by the the lack of dhuies though. We got a few undersized ones, but nothing to bring home. Conditions were so good late in the week, we even managed to fish in 200mtrs with no sea anchor and with only a 16oz snapper sinker, and easily hold bottom . The snapper were definitely bigger in 200mtrs than they were on the bank (we fished in 60-80mtrs), but 200+ mtrs it is a long way to pull up double headers of snapper!
Jurien is definitely a place you need to be very careful, as there is reef everywhere in close, and be especially careful around The Boomer. It is not hard to get disoriented coming in on stiff a sea breeze, when there is plenty of white water and you are looking at the back of the waves.
There have been plenty of posts about Jurien on this site. Try using the search function for more info.
Cheers, Peter

Jurien facilities
Should have added that the facilities are great for boating. Excellent marina with double ramp and free parking. Jurien Sea Rescue give 24hr coverage also.
