Jurien Bay Mackerel?
Submitted by EM296 on Sun, 2014-01-19 11:43
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone has heard reports on whether any mackerel are being caught at Jurien Bay?
Is it best to troll for them or to anchor up and burley?
Thanks

Thanks
Thanks for that.
It will be a couple of weeks before I'm back up there, but was hoping to try and pick up a feed.

Yep, they're about....
Picked up a small example (95cm) last weekend, birds busting up everywhere but only managed the one hit despite trolling around the bust-ups for hours. I should have flicked a few lures but had one on board and was just cruising.. 12-17 metres... :)
Finished off the morning with a small Dhu (53cm) and a 37cm black arse...

Bloody Wind
Well it blew hard for my whole R&R, so didn't get a chance to look for any mackerel.
Next R&R is in March, so hopefully weather and water temps will be in my favour then.
