Just moved to Gero

G'day all.

I have just moved to Geraldton due to work commitments and was wondering if anyone could give me any hot tips as to where to go for a land based fish untill i get a little boat. im pickin up a new 4wd next week as the old 40 series doesnt really like the great open roads!!! so beach access will not be a problem. if anyone has a road atlas and give some close enough directions it would be much appretiated.

Cheers

Lots of places to explore if you like beach fishing. Greenough rivermouth to the south is a good place to start. Pity the 40 series has to go though. They make a great fishing rig.

Hey mate

Sun, 2011-05-01 14:32

Hey mate i lived and fished in gero for the past 9 years and just recently moved to perth. Some great beach fishing spots include Lucy's beach (past grenough near the wildlife park 4wd acess only), Corronation beach (45mins north of town 4wd acess), The lives (back of the crayfishing factory behind the fishermans warf), Seal rock (out from KFC). If you want to know the latest goss on fishing go to bcf on thursday night or saturday and speak to alex, or tackleworld and talk to llyod (aka TWITCHEMUP on fw) Hope that helps buddy ;)

port gregory and wagoe worth a look right now for some ballooning, in there also is lucky bay.  someone did a good LBG report on Wagoe this week

Gee your making me pretty envious.

I personally love the  S bend area which ranges about 10k north and south of flatrocks, but thats a 4hr drive for me.  If i were you i would be looking at the area between kalbarri and gero

look forward to some great trip reports

Yeah no worries mate

Yeah no worries mate, happy to help :)

Lucy's is just before Flat rocks etc, and Wageo is definately worth checking out, but you want very small swell. Hopefully you get onto some good fish. Kalbarri, and north hold some absoluely amazing fishing, shark bay can be abit difficult of the beach, but coral bay and exmouth will let you land 70cm prize eating fish like spangled emperor from the carpark...

If you have any questions or anything just pm me.
